CSUSB’s California Student Opportunity & Access Program (Cal-SOAP) is currently accepting applications for its Fleischer Scholars Program (FSP) which provides a no-cost opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to experience college life, entrepreneurship, and business.
FSP focuses on providing students with a simple “how to think” model so they can learn how to become master adaptive learners who evaluate their past and present experiences and learn basic concepts in business and entrepreneurship. Scholars learn how to combine these concepts with an emphasis on critical thinking, communication and how to apply what they are learning through their culminating Team Entrepreneurship Challenge Project.
This is a hybrid course with participation both in person and online. Students will attend workshops on the FSP model and personal financial literacy, increasing opportunities for post-high school graduation including: FAFSA/CADAA completion; College Applications; Personal Statements; Resume Building; Networking; Other College/Career Readiness skills.
Eligible candidates are current high school juniors and seniors with a 2.5 GPA or higher, community/school involvement and must answer two short essay questions. Special considerations will be made for first generation students, low-income households, youth in foster care, youth experiencing homelessness, unaccompanied minors (minor not living with either parent).
Orientation will take place on Saturday, Jan. 28. Program will run from January 2023 to May 2023. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the program is full.
All successful candidates will receive a free laptop, a completion certificate at the end of the program and will be eligible for our summer residential program.
