The Community Connection Council has appointed Deborah Harmon and Sonya Gray-Hunn as co-chairs to this impact team.
Deborah is also part of the Advisory Board of the Inland Equity Community Land Trust. When she is not volunteering in her community for various organizations, she spends her time with her family.
Sonya, a grassroots organizer with Congregations Organized for Prophetic Engagement (COPE), has championed parent engagement and housing justice and has helped secure $1.3 million for parent engagement and a new framework in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Both Deborah and Sonya are San Bernardino residents.
This year, the Community Connection Council will continue its work in:
- Providing the community with linkage to resources and services that improve the quality of life for residents.
- Activating and mobilizing community partners to advance 30% and below housing development and community homeownership models.
- Curating resources and education for shared learning opportunities to advance tenant protections, and preserve owner-occupied home- ownership.
