Funding for Level 2 Charging Infrasrusture Opens Soon – $30 Million in Incentives

Communities in Charge is California’s market-accelerating, light-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging incentive project funded by the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program, implemented by CALSTART, and supported in partnership with GRID Alternatives and Tetra Tech.

Communities In Charge  level 2 funding will open on Thursday, Nov. 14 and will close Friday, Jan. 31, 2025. Funding is available to a variety of project sites and focuses on accelerating the deployment of Level 2 EV charging stations.

To participate, applicants must:

  • Be the property owner, lessee, or authorized representative
  • Be the one who incurs the cost

Project sites located in a qualified multi-family housing site or a tribal community may qualify for increased funding.

The Communities in Charge project intends to elevate historically under-resourced communities via an equity-based scoring rubric found in the Implementation Manual.
