On Tuesday, November 12, the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture will host a key event In partnership with Chapman University’s Center for Demographics and Policy, focused on California’s future and the Latino community’s growing influence.
The event will feature a panel discussion centered on the report California: El Futuro es Latino. The report explores the state’s future, with a focus on the socioeconomic dynamics shaping the region and the opportunities for advancing Latino prosperity. Held in the Inland Empire, where Latinos are expected to make up 75% of the population by the 2050s, this event will bring together leaders from across the region, including nonprofit organizations and advocates. Local residents and organizations will have the opportunity to engage with the report’s authors, network, and explore solutions that empower the Latino community.
“This is more than just an academic discussion; it’s about finding real-world solutions to uplift Latino prosperity across California, particularly in areas like housing, wealth-building, and community development,” said Karla Lopez del Rio, co-author of the report and Riverside County resident. “I’m excited to bring this important conversation to the Inland Empire, a region that will play a vital role in California’s future as its demographic changes become more pronounced.”
The event is sponsored by Fruition.
Communities, a national developer who recently completed a 100-manufactured-home community in the city of Riverside, at the border of San Bernardino county, providing affordable housing for low-income families—a critical issue for the region’s Latino population.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Hear diverse perspectives on the future of the Latino community in California.
- Explore shared goals and debate solutions to foster Latino prosperity in key regions.
- Visit the Cheech Marin Center and connect with local leaders and advocates.
As the Inland Empire continues to evolve demographically, this event offers a crucial opportunity to address the region’s challenges and unlock its potential for the benefit of all Californians.
