Uplift San Bernardino at the Making Hope Happen Foundation has extended the deadline for the Wellness Fund: Sustainable & Innovative Housing Project Application. Interested applicants must now submit their application by Friday, September 29.
Made possible by the generous support of Kaiser Permanente, this initiative aligns with Uplift San Bernardino’s Housing Pipeline Working Group, and Neighborhood Development goal to increase housing opportunities for all residents in the city.
The Wellness Fund welcomes applications from organizations pursuing sustainable transitional, emergency, permanent supportive, co-op, and other housing projects aimed at providing shelter for unhoused individuals and families in San Bernardino. With the ultimate vision of creating inclusive communities, the fund aims to award transformative projects that will positively impact the lives of those in need.
One outstanding project with 100 or more units will be eligible for an award of up to $100,000, while small-scale projects can receive up to $25,000 in funding. The application process features three distinct categories: Pre-Development, Pre-Development Rehab/Conversion, and Innovative Construction, each designed to support diverse, new, and small led organizations in their pursuit of innovative housing solutions.
Applicants will follow a six-phase process:
1. Completion of the application, due on September 29, 2023.
2. Invitation to share additional documentation, such as proformas and site plans.
3. Panel Review of Projects – It is important to note that all panelists are required to maintain confidentiality regarding the projects.
4. Panel’s submission of Project Nominations for public review.
5. Community Voting of projects.
6. Projects Announcement and Award Ceremony scheduled for October 15, 2023.
